Sisu Women's Self Defence offers a variety of clinics for older adults. The sessions are typically 1-2 hours long and can include both interactive discussion and hands-on learning. Like our other self defence workshops, you will explore some key mental and physical tools to help deal with threats, harassment and potentially violent situations. We discuss themes like the predator mindset, being aware of your surroundings, and how to deal with verbal and physical intimidation. You will be shown some basic but effective ways to keep safe and look at ways to fight back if you need to. You can try out the techniques under the guidance of the instructor, or just watch and make mental notes. It's up to you. We keep it simple. There are no fancy techniques or hard to remember moves. Learn to work with what you’ve got and use the tools you already have to keep safe!
Who Can Take These Clinics?
These clinics are designed to meet the needs of older adults who are looking to equip themselves with some practical, effective self defence knowledge. You do not have to be a senior to participate in this clinic, although the age of those who take these workshops typically ranges from 60-85. We take in to account all levels of ability and believe that everyone, regardless of age or physical limitations, can learn self defence skills. Seniors' workshops may be run either as gender neutral sessions or women-only clinics.
